The fourth Future Internet Assembly (FIA) book was published in May and is titled “Future Internet Assembly 2012: From Promises to Reality” The chapter on SOCIETIES was written as a collaboration between TSSG, National Technical University of Athens, Greece, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK and INTEL Labs Europe, Leixlip, County Kildare and included work from TSSG staff members Kevin Doolin, Mark Roddy and Edel Jennings.
The Chapter gives an overview of the SOCIETIES project vision, concepts, methodology, architecture and initial evaluation results towards the accomplishment of using community-driven context-awareness, preference learning and privacy protection for intelligently connecting people, communities and things.
The goal of SOCIETIES is to radically improve the utility of Future Internet services by combining the benefits of pervasive systems with those of social computing. The TSSG-coordinated project is funded by the EU FP7 Programme,has been running since October 2010 and will be completed in 2014.
