The 2012 CIICT Symposium will focus on the theme ICT and Energy Efficiency – exploring how the design of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is increasingly influenced by energy costs and power consumption constraints and, in addition, how ICT will be broadly applied in future to help manage the emerging global energy crisis.
The symposium will look at three main themes including ‘Convergence of Smart Grid and the Internet of Things’, ‘Energy Efficient Wired and Wireless ICT’, and ‘Network Security and Energy Efficiency’.
This symposium is a partner conference with the Euroscience Open Forum 2012 (ESOF 2012).
TSSG industry liaison and project manager, Kevin Quinn will present a talk entitled “Energy Efficiency: Bottom Up Energy Efficiency – Let’s build something.” The talk will cover the area of smart grids and current opportunities for Irish companies to develop products to help with advancing energy efficiency. Dr. Quinn will also describe some of the projects under way in the TSSG and demonstrate previous researched technology including ASTRAL and current Green ICT project Finseny.
