Waterford Institute of Technology’s Telecommunications Software & Systems Group (TSSG) was only one of two Irish research groups invited to present at the recent European Commission’s Consultation Workshop on Cloud Computing research priorities. This workshop saw experts from across Europe discuss the key priorities for future Cloud Computing research funding.
The invitation to TSSG followed their contribution to the web-based public consultation where the Commission sought inputs on the key research and innovation challenges in the area of Cloud Computing for the Horizon 2020 2016 – 2017 Work Programme. Dr. Alan Davy, Senior Research Fellow at TSSG presented research priorities in a range of areas including ‘Cloud Interoperability’, ‘Federation and Brokerage; Edge / Fog Computing’ and ‘Mobile Cloud’ as well as ‘Integration of Cloud Computing with the Internet of Things; Security, Privacy, Identity and Trust in Cloud Computing’.
The final report from the consultation published by the European Commission as, Report on the public consultation for H2020 Work Programme 2016‐17:Cloud Computing and Software cites TSSG’s contribution throughout.
The final report will now be used by the Commission to prioritise its key research challenges for the 2016 – 2017 Cloud Computing Work Programme. TSSG’s position paper can be found here:
