A research and innovation hub which has helped world-renowned technology firms such as FeedHenry, ZolkC and others target a global audience is hosting its first ever Industry Day in Waterford’s Granville Hotel on Tuesday, March 3.

The free Telecommunications, Software and Systems Group (TSSG) event is an absolute must for all involved in the tech industry, those with a product, service or idea they want to develop and anyone who is  fascinated by the global impact the hubs in Waterford and Kilkenny have had.

FeedHenry CEO, Cathal McGloin, is the keynote speaker for the event which starts at 9.30am and runs through until 3.30pm. Feedhenry, the Waterford-based mobile software company is a TSSG spin-out and was acquired just last year for €63.5m by Red Hat Inc., a US multinational software firm.

FeedHenry is just one of a growing number of TSSG companies making a significant impact across its prioritised technical research areas which include Mobile Platforms and Services, Security Privacy and Identity, Data Analytics and Social Computing as well as Adaptive Networks and services.

Pre-registration is required for the free event and as places are limited, intending delegates are urged to register now on www.tssg.org.

“TSSG is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for ICT research and innovation and the Industry Day gives everyone a chance to get together and see how we can really take things to the next level”, according to TSSG CEO, Barry Downes.

“We carry out a wide spectrum of industry-informed research in Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), particularly technologies enabling communications and information services.

“Over the past three years, TSSG has delivered innovative solutions to over 110 Irish companies through Enterprise Ireland programmes such as Innovation Partners. On the day we will be showing some of our latest technologies and highlighting ways in which local and national companies can benefit from TSSG’s work and also Enterprise Ireland programmes.”

TSSG decided to host the free Industry Open Day on March 3rd to give Start Up’s, SME’s and Multinationals the opportunity to see, first hand, some of these innovative technologies. TSSG representatives will be there on the day to discuss technology needs that business may have.

Waterford-based company eDrive will be a case study on the day, explaining how they received funds to access TSSG expertise through the “Innovation in a Box” model, which is a way of describing TSSG’s model of doing large-scale innovation for its clients.

TSSG can do this because it is a high-end research, innovation and development centre and this enables it to bring a cross-functional team together to support a client’s ICT innovation needs that include scientists, software engineers, design and usability experts, testers and specialists in new product development.

Presentations on the day include a Start Up Panel with Nearform, Immersive VR Education,       Mo-bizz  and Fonesense. There will also be presentations on how to access funding streams from both Enterprise Ireland and the EU, such as Horizon 2020.

  • Register now at www.tssg.org  to book your free place at the event and as the first step towards engaging with TSSG on your innovative idea.
