sediciiSedicii, based at Waterford Institute of Technology’s,  ArcLabs Innovation Centre  is the only Irish company to join the World Economic Forum’s Technology Pioneers 2015.

The programme recognises early-stage companies from around the world that are involved in the design, development and deployment of new technologies, and are poised to have a significant impact on business and society.

Technology Pioneers come from a wide range of sectors such as life sciences and health, energy and environment, information technologies and new media.  Past companies listed have included Google, SoundCloud, Dropbox, Wikimedia and Twitter.

Sedicii was chosen from hundreds of candidates by a professional jury which included Arianna Huffington, founder of the Huffington Post, and Henry Blodget, editor of Business Insider.

Sedicii’s goal is creating game-changing technology, which will give consumers control over the personal data stored by online companies.  Its technology eliminates the transmission and storage of private identity data during authentication or identity verification, reducing possibilities for identity theft, impersonation and resulting fraud. The patented “Zero Knowledge Proof Protocol” involves a remote server querying the user’s computer to find out if the right password or identity attribute was entered, without ever exposing or transmitting the password or the identity attribute. It enables people to prove they are who they say they are without exposing their private identity data.

During Sedicii’s early stage development it worked with IPACSO one of TSSG’s EU funded research projects.  IPACSO drives new product realisation and development leveraging significant opportunities  for innovation in the privacy and cyber security (PACS) technology space, where complex market, regulatory, policy, commercial and economic consideration create several barriers to transforming research outputs into market-centric product and service applications.  In response to these barriers, the IPACSO Innovation Framework for Privacy and Cyber Security Market Opportunities www.ipacso.eu has developed a structured knowledge and decision-support innovation framework for identifying, assessing and exploiting market opportunities in the privacy and cyber security technology space.  By working with IPACSO, participating in workshops and joining the IPACSO Innovation award community, Sedicii has applied existing methodologies, best practices, market considerations, economic incentives and other expertise to enhance its market offering.
