Lead advanced contract R&D and EI projects.
Liaise with prospective clients and stakeholders to understand and interpret their business requirements, goals and identify appropriate solutions.
Accurately define and estimate technical architectures and solutions.
Ensure delivery of software and documentation of technical projects to agreed schedule and specification.
Ensure all stakeholders up to date with progress of projects.
Co-ordinate resolution of technical issues across multiple teams.
Act as a mentor to less experienced developers – providing technical guidance and direction, developing their skills and competences.
Follow and promote a SCRUM and test-driven development (TDD) approach.
Participate in improvements to all aspects of development lifecycle methodology.
Collaborate with the TSSG Research Units to ensure alignment with WIT governance and following best practice.
Mentor junior staff members in software engineering processes and new technologies.
Write proposals and secure personal and team funding.
Perform Line Management
Report to the Research Unit Manager
Flexibility to work with customers in different time zones e.g. US West & East Coast and Japan.
Travel on behalf of the project(s) to national and international locations.
Essential: BSc in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Similar
Desirable: MSc in Computer Science or Similar
Essential: Experience in Agile or SCRUM, Java, Node.JS, Java script,
Desirable: 8-10 years software development experience;
Specific Knowledge and Skills:
Essential: Team Leadership, Project Management, Managing Client Requirements, Effort Estimation, Delivering Quality Software
Desirable: Proposal coordination
Specific Personal Qualities:
Essential: Motivated, self starter, interested in pursuing and developing own research agenda.
