AEGIS project participants from INMARK and Waterford Institute of Technology’s TSSG (WIT-TSSG) actively participated to the meeting of ECSO Working group 6, which focused on Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) that took place in Brussels on 31st January 2018. ECSO brings together a large community of EU Cybersecurity experts and stakeholders. The European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO) represents the industry-led contractual counterpart to the European Commission for the implementation of the Cyber Security Contractual Public-Private Partnership (cPPP). The main aim of ECSO is to develop, promote, encourage European cybersecurity, and, in particular, to:

  • Foster and protect from cyber threats the growth of the European Digital Single Market;
  • Develop the cybersecurity market in Europe and the growth of a competitive cybersecurity and ICT industry, with an increased market position;
  • Develop and implement cybersecurity solutions for the critical steps of trusted supply chains, in sectoral applications where Europe is a leader.

WIT-TSSG actively participated to the event represented by Technical Lead, Frances Cleary and WIT-TSSG cybersecurity international cooperation focused activities, through their involvement in the EU H2020 funded project AEGIS http://aegis-project.org/. The AEGIS project was presented to the members and audience by the Project coordinator, Ms. Yolanda Ursa (INMARK). AEGIS addresses one of the critical challenges of our era, which is to strengthen international dialogues on cybersecurity and privacy with the objective to facilitate exchange of views, policies and best practices to accelerate EU-US cooperation in cybersecurity and privacy research and innovation. AEGIS currently has two reflection working groups active 1) Cybersecurity and Privacy R&I Working Group 2) Cybersecurity & Privacy Policies working group and open to interested partners to actively participate to.

Future close links and collaboration between ECSO and AEGIS is foreseen as a key actionable output coming from the meeting, encouraging enhanced collaboration, knowledge sharing and synergy creation actively feeding into the EU strategic Research and Innovation agenda.
