Funding Win in the 5GINFire Open Call

Software Research Engineer, Ehsan Elahi, recently won €75,000 funding in the 5GINFIRE Open Call for Experiments.

The project is to experiment a graph neural network-based energy efficient resource scheduling algorithm to predict the future resource requirements of Cloud Radio Access Networks (C-RAN) and autonomously scale and/or migrate the virtualised Baseband Units (vBBUs) to meet those requirements. The decisions will be made on the basis of current and predicted load, energy consumption and level of carbon emission. The autonomous scaling, resource allocation and live migration will enhance the performance and robustness of C-RAN as well as help in reducing energy consumption and carbon emission thus making a C-RAN into a G-RAN (Green Radio Access Network).
