Deep Learning algorithms have dramatically transformed the field of Artificial Intelligence in recent years and is driving a new breed of conversational style interfaces to existing applications and services. In this thematic area, we focus on building cognitive intelligence algorithms to produce services capable of reasoning about their current environment.
Artificial Intelligence is broadly the topic of making computer systems more intelligent using sophisticated algorithms. Our research looks primarily at applications of different AI algorithms to make human intensive operations much more efficient. We have applied AI algorithms to the management of Smart Energy, Transportation and Precision Agriculture. Most notably we apply AI into scenarios where human experience in often in high demand, or is expensive to procure. Such cases would occur in Agriculture where skilled workers are dwindling in numbers. Our algorithms are able to support decision making and task automation for less skilled workers having the AI support of more experienced knowledge.
