Carol Faughnan is Business Development Executive at the TSSG Technology Gateway in WIT. Through engagement with industry, Carol facilitates the collaboration with the world-class cutting-edge research happening at TSSG with new disruptive businesses in the South East. Carol also supports companies in accessing funding opportunities through Enterprise Ireland to enhance their R&D through the Technology Gateway in TSSG. Carol believes that what is most exciting is seeing research being applied to real world use-case applications. A solution applied in one industry use case might not be very impactful, but a similar solution applied to another use-case could be the disruptive factor in that vertical. It is collaboration between industry and research that is imperative to the emergence of disruptive industries.
Dr. Patrick Lynch, a co-founder and Director of RIKON, WIT obtained his PhD in innovation and new product development and has extensive commercial experience including the creation and growth of early stage companies. A Director of RIKON, Patrick has amassed considerable industry, consultancy and applied innovation research experience in both management and delivery capacities spanning innovation processes and framework development, market and business research and analysis, new product and service development and business modelling and development and market development. Patrick has been researching and teaching innovation management and market analysis for over 10 years in Waterford Institute of Technology and has extensively published in national and international conferences, books and journals.
Stephen Rooney – Design + Gateway Manager in IT Carlow. Stephen has worked in various business development and technical sales roles throughout his career. His experience has largely been with multinational engineering companies and prior to joining Design+ he worked for ABB who are a global leader in electrification products. He qualified from the University of Ulster before completing a post grad in Trinity and is currently undertaking the MBA course in IT Carlow. Stephen is currently tasked with growing all aspects of the Design+ offering including Design, Engineering and Data Science as well as others.
Jim Hoey, James G. Hoey & Associates. Jim Hoey is principal with James G. Hoey & Associates specialising in mentoring, lean and competitive initiatives, strategic and company scaling programmes, international sales development, chairing and coaching management teams towards delivery of annual plans and company goals coupled with non-executive directorships. Hoey is an Enterprise Ireland-approved mentor, facilitator of lean programmes and an EI Advocate assisting clients to develop their capability for entry into global markets. During his entire career spanning 35 years he held various positions in multinational companies in Ireland and overseas and has specialised in start-up activity and company scaling. He has experience of the chemical, plastics, life sciences, wood processing, food and building products industries. He holds a BSc in Chemistry, a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry a Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering. Jim has extensive experience in management development and strategic company scaling across a number of sectors and geographies.
