Position Details:

TSSG has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Business Development professional to join our team. This role will place you at the heart of world class research, development and innovation in the ICT domain. This is a critical role which will involve interacting with both current and prospective clients to secure new opportunities for TSSG in the ICT Research domain.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the proven ability to effectively negotiate and influence a broad range of stakeholders.

Major Duties

Responsibilities will include:

  • To increase business and maximise sales
  • Proactively generate new contacts, leads and opportunities in line with the strategic direction of the organisation
  • Promote TSSG at a national level through attending industry events and subsequently document outcome and planned actions.
  • Competently present TSSG to potential clients and at industry events.
  • Capture client/prospective client requirements
  • Maintain the CRM database, populating with new leads, opportunities and status updates
  • Keep up to date on market trends and conditions
  • Frequent interaction with all internal TSSG Research groups
  • Promptly communicate results of customer communications to the relevant parties in TSSG
  • Participate in the generation of proposals with the relevant Research groups and commercial partners
  • Liaise closely with the Marketing department, with particular attention to assisting with content for marketing collateral, website updates, case studies, testimonials, etc.
  • Build long-term trusting relationships with clients
  • Liaise where relevant with organisations such as Enterprise Ireland and business networks
  • Protect confidential information
  • Carry out other such duties as determined and directed by the Director(s) of TSSG / Technology Gateway Manager that contribute to the achievement of the strategic initiatives of the organisation.

The successful candidate will report to the TSSG Technology Gateway Manager.

TSSG is a renowned software research institute and internationally recognised centre of excellence for ICT research and innovation which forms part of the Waterford Institute of Technology.  The purpose of the business development role is to assist in promoting TSSG’s core technology offering to Irish industry and expand our client base.

 


Person Specification

Academic Qualifications

Essential:

  • BBs in a business-related discipline or BSc. in ICT/Engineering Discipline (or equivalent qualification)

Desirable:

  • MSc or post grad in business/management related discipline
Experience

Essential:

  • 2+ years’ experience in Business Development / Technical Sales
  • Capacity to be proactive and innovative in resource generation and sourcing all available funding
Specific Knowledge & Skills

Essential:

  • A strong networker and experience of managing the client interface
  • Possess strong business development skills
Specific Personal Qualities

Essential:

  • Highly motivated, driven and target focused
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to effectively negotiate and influence a broad range of stakeholders
